Esplanade Coastal Drive

Spectacular bay views abound and some of the best bathing boxes to photograph are to be found along this coastal drive from Mornington through to Dromana.
Commencing in Mornington this scenic drive starts at Schnapper Point in Mornington offering access to the Schnapper Point park, and amazing views out onto the water over Mothers Beach with its pretty bathing boxes, and Mornington Pier. Once out onto Esplanade, you will witness some of the best views of the bay in Port Phillip as you meander around this picturesque clifftop road.
Past Fishermans Beach and Linley Point Lookout towards Mount Martha, you pass Fossil Beach - so named for the proliferation of rocks that contain fossils found there. A couple of smaller beaches including Hawker Beach are below the cliffs and accessed by steep paths and stairs. The main Mount Martha Beach is sandy and picturesque with some of the most photographed bathing boxes in Australia!
The small village of Mount Martha also offers cafes and restaurants, and there is a delightful boardwalk along the Balcombe Estuary Reserve.
The most amazing scenery is to be viewed when passing around the points of Mt Martha. Access to the water here is difficult and not recommended. As you round the last headland, Arthurs Seat comes into full view across the bay of Safety Beach. Your drive continues through the tiny hamlet of Safety Beach - the road is so close to the water you will feel you can reach out and touch the sand. A couple of kilometres on you will finish at the township of Dromana.
