12 great out-of-the-box Christmas gift ideas

Every year it seems to get a bit harder to find gifts that are a bit more personal, that reflect the unique nature of the receiver (and the giver), and are not the ‘same old – same old’. This year we challenged ourselves, firmly put our thinking hats on and came up with 12 great Christmas Ideas that are uniquely Mornington Peninsula and definitely not-your-usual gifts.

What about:

  1. Get their pinkies ready for a Gin High Tea (yes, it’s a thing) for two at the lovely Zigis Bar in Flinders. Pick up a voucher so they can book a date that suits them!

  1. Release their inner child and book them a spot to be a keeper for a day at Moonlit Sanctuary or drive a train with Mornington Railway –Toot toot, all aboard

  1. Take a very-tailored tour with the team at Grape Exploration. The tour may or may not involve grapes, but will involve your own playlist and perhaps some cider. Its all about choice.

  1. A beautiful, bespoke, hand-blown, personalized wine glass by Gordon Studio Glassblowers. Match it with a special bottle of something local.

  1. For other types of art pieces that are one-offs, hand-made or limited editions peruse the delights on offer at Merricks General Wine Store Art Gallery, or Manyung Gallery; at FlindersMornington, Mount Eliza, or Sorrento

  1. For art of another kind, get tickets to check out the impressive sand sculpting at Boneo Discovery Park. This year’s event is all about Graeme Base’s ‘Animalia’ characters.

  1. If an overseas trip to a remote location is their thing then check out the ‘Wines, Vines and Vistas‘ tour to French Island with Naturaliste Tours. Off the beaten track, scenic and surprising

  1. For the young people in your life – make them officially a Junior Chocolateir with a workshop from Mornington Peninsula Chocolaterie. Who knows - they may share their delicious learnings with you

  1. Get into the spirit with one of the very popular Gin Masterclasses from Bass and Flinders Distillery – or one of their new Brandy Masterclasses that celebrate their flagship ‘Ochre’ spirit.

Or choose a Distilling Experience like no other at Jimmy Rum Distillery. So much more than a tour – although you could choose one of those instead if you wanted.

  2. For those who are feeling frazzled at this time of year – and lets face it, who isn’t – you can give the gift of time with an endota Signature Spa Treatment Gift Card. Available from Red HillMoorooducMorningtonor Frankston

  3. Or fill the larder, picnic basket and/or table with a big bountiful hamper from Hamper Yourself

  4. Still can’t decide? There are even more options available from Arthurs Seat Eagle, Georgie Bass Cookery School, Flinders Hotel, Lakeside Villas and Blue Mini Café with a Mornington Peninsula Voucher
