On Monday January 18, Royal Botanic Gardens Victoria launched a free shuttle bus service between Cranbourne Train Station and Cranbourne Gardens, providing the much-needed link for visitors using the public transport network.
“We wanted to make the Gardens more accessible, and this new service will encourage more people to experience these stunning Australian landscapes and the benefits of spending more time in nature,” said Rufino Ramos, Head of Visitor Experience, Access & Tourism.
Winner of Best Major Tourist Attraction at the 2019 Victorian Tourism Awards, Cranbourne Gardens is a 363-hectare haven of native Australian wildlife and plants, with walking tracks, picnic areas, guided tours, children’s and family activities and a café overlooking its spectacular, outback inspired, Australian Garden.
“Cranbourne Gardens is a great place to come together in a beautiful and safe outdoor environment, surrounded by Australian plants and wildlife,” says Chris Russell, Executive Director Cranbourne Gardens.
Cranbourne Gardens is home to approximately 170,000 Australian plants from over 1,700 plant varieties. The gardens offer a range of free and low priced activities for all ages including plant sales, the popular NAIDOC event, guide led walks, children’s nature play activities and artist-led workshops.
The 9-seater bus will run three times per day, seven days per week, with pick-up at Cranbourne Station’s Train Replacement Bus Stop and drop-off near the Gardens’ Visitor Centre.
