Welcoming Tasmania’s Emerging Tourism Leaders to the Mornington Peninsula

On Thursday 10 April, the Mornington Peninsula was delighted to join a delegation from Tasmania’s Tourism Industry Council (TICT) Young Leaders Program. The visit included an inspiring afternoon of discussion and connection between Tasmanian emerging leaders and some of the region’s key figures in wine and tourism.

Angela Cleland, Chief Executive Officer of Mornington Peninsula Regional Tourism, joined Georgina Prout, Business Development Manager at Pt. Leo Estate, and Heidi Williams, Director at Montalto, for an open and engaging conversation with the visiting group. The session explored the evolution of the visitor economy, the development of wine tourism, and the power of partnerships such as Ultimate Winery Experiences in elevating regional destinations.

While the Mornington Peninsula and Tasmania each offer unique and world-class visitor experiences, it was quickly evident that the two regions share many opportunities and challenges. From seasonality and workforce development to creating meaningful visitor experiences that reflect local values, the discussion revealed strong alignment—and mutual admiration.

Angela Cleland said it was a privilege to welcome the group and to meet Amy Hills, Chief Executive Officer of TICT, whose leadership is clearly inspiring the next wave of tourism professionals in Tasmania.

Mornington Peninsula Regional Tourism extends sincere thanks to Olivia Barrie, CEO of Mornington Peninsula Vignerons, for facilitating the connection. The visit was a welcome opportunity to share insights, strengthen interstate relationships, and foster the future of tourism on both sides of the Bass Strait.
