Mornington Tourist Railway

The Mornington Tourist Railway is located on the Mornington Peninsula, Victoria, Australia. The Mornington Tourist Railway (MTR) has been operating since 1999 by the dedicated members of the Mornington Railway Preservation Society Inc. A Heritage Train Ride on the MTR is approximately one hour return. The railway is operated entirely by volunteers and is a not-for-profit charity. The purpose is to preserve the Mornington Railway line since its closure in the 1980s, restore heritage locomotives and rolling stock from the former Victorian Railways, and make it a major tourism attraction in the Northern Mornington Peninsula region.

Trains run each Sunday of every month and additional days when announced. On most days, their steam locomotive K163 hauls lovingly restored timber-bodied passenger carriages of over 100 years of age. On other days, trains are hauled by heritage diesel-electric locomotives.

All Heritage Train Rides commence from Moorooduc Station located next to the Mount Eliza Regional Park. Entry is from Two Bays Road near Moorooduc Highway.

The team of dedicated volunteers look forward to giving you an enjoyable day out.
