The Mornington Peninsula has a treasure trove of delicious places to eat and drink, with many welcoming all pups to enjoy their location.

Tar Barrel Brewery & Distillery

Tar Barrel Brewery & Distillery in Mornington is known for its ever-expanding range of specialty craft brews. It’s here where both you and the furry bestie can quench your thirst and enjoy the atmosphere of this bustling local scene. Sample one of their gin or whisky tasting paddles, or opt for something delicious on tap while your precious pooch laps up the sunshine in the the beer garden.

Phaedrus Estate

Wine tastings and cheese platters are all the go on weekends at Phaedrus Estate in Moorooduc. Dogs are welcome to visit as well (on a lead), with ample space outside to spread out and enjoy the picturesque setting. Established in 1997, Phaedrus Estate has a rich history of winemaking on the Mornington Peninsula, with owners Ewan and Maitena always keen to share with visitors their knowledge and love for the industry.

Green Olive at Red Hill

Green Olive at Red Hill in Main Ridge is a beautiful place to enjoy friendly Peninsula hospitality and local produce. As well as meeting the many animals who call this olive grove, farm and winery home, take the time to indulge in delicious flavours with the help of colourful grazing plates. Pooches are welcome on leashes!

WALKS

There are plenty of great Mornington Peninsula dog-friendly walks that will inspire (and tire) you and your woofer! Check out a few of our favourites:

Balcombe Creek Estuary Boardwalk

Dogs are welcome on a leash on the Balcombe Creek Estuary Boardwalk. The 2.5km walking track winds its way along the charming Balcombe Creek in Mount Martha. Learn about the precious species of wildlife in the area as you follow educational signboards throughout the journey.

Millionaires Walk

The stunning Millionaires Walk in Sorrento is 1.5km each way and showcases some of the most amazing views of Port Phillip, extending to the Bellarine Peninsula. You really must see it to believe it!

The Bay Trail

Heading along the coastline of Port Phillip from Safety Beach to Portsea is the Mornington Peninsula’s Bay Trail, flanked by beautiful sandy beaches and clear bay waters. Pick and choose where you start and finish the walk, with plenty of toilets, water stations and playgrounds along the way. Pathways are shared and have varying surfaces, but it is generally an easy walk to enjoy.

BEACHES

Here is a list of year-round leash-free Mornington Peninsula beaches. Head down early in the morning or at dusk to catch some of our spectacular sunrises and sunsets.

Safety Beach - Tassells Cove: a small sandy beach between Marina Cove & Bruce Rd.

Mount Martha - Hawker Beach: enter via the steep fire access track down to the beach opposite Helena St.

Somers - Somers Beach: 200 metres of sandy beach, east from the bottom of the ‘hundred steps’. *Please note: Other areas of Somers Beach have restricted leash-free times.

TRAVEL

Let your pups enjoy the sea spray and fresh air in their hair as you cross the bay with Searoad Ferries. Enjoy the adventure together and take in the sights of Sorrento town. Cliff top mansions, tiny coves filled with boats, the beautiful foreshore and old limestone buildings all to be spotted!
