Art and Wine Exhibition at Tallarida

November 2024 - 28 February 2025

Contact

Contact Name: Tallarida Vineyard

Location

148 Browns Road
Boneo, 3939 Victoria

Her first solo show, Hannah Lewis’ Flora speaks of the plants of the Mornington Peninsula where she lives. The exhibition is also a reflection on places she has spent significant time immersing herself in, which has recently included three significant art residencies; Police Point on the Mornington Peninsula in 2022, FLOAT AIR on Lake Tyers in 2023 and, most recently, Oatlands in Tasmania in 2024.

All have taken Hannah to different landscapes and inspired her to broaden her lens and immerse herself in creating a sense of place away from the familiar. The 'story of place' is an important component of Hannah's work.

In scientific terms 'flora' are the plants of a particular region or habitat, generally the naturally occurring or indigenous plants. Flora means 'flower' in Latin. In Roman mythology, Flora was the fertility Goddess of spring and flowering plants. She was known to bring beauty and new life to the world, symbolising the blooming of flowers and the renewal of nature. The use of clothing is also used as a metaphor for nature’s embrace.

This exhibition is located at Tallarida Vineyard. A boutique vineyard of 25 acres, is situated on the beautiful Mornington Peninsula, in the lush soil of the Boneo plains. The property has a history of producing benchmark and award-winning Chardonnay, and in recent years, has moved into Pinot Noir.

Cellar Door Opening Hours: Friday to Monday, 11:30am to 5pm
