Mornington Peninsula Regional Gallery has a great program of exhibitions and events over winter. ‘News From Nowhere’ features internationally renowned Aotearoa New Zealand jeweller Lisa Walker and Melbourne-based artist Brendan Huntley. They share a makeshift, DIY aesthetic that deliberately treads the line between craft and fine art. The show includes Walker’s oversized, ‘easy’ but haphazard jewellery and Huntley’s objects, paintings and works on paper.

‘Both Body & Not’ is an MPRG collection exhibition that explores ideas of body, community and universe as layers of being. The exhibition features over 30 works from the collection, including Elizabeth Banfield, Julia Powles, Jess Johnson, Riley Payne, Andrew Sibley and Peter Purves-Smith.

Marion Harper is a local artist from Merricks and her paintings in ‘Restless Encounters’ delve into the boundaries between our bodies and spaces, between individuals and society. Finally, MPRG is pleased to launch a new permanent kinetic sculpture by Cameron Robbins, ‘Aeolian Beacon’. Created in response to local topographies and atmospherics, Robbins’ monumental sculpture features three kinetic vanes that move independently in the wind, reaching fourteen meters at its highest point. The sculpture is anchored within a landscape designed by local ecologist Gidja Walker OAM, featuring endemic flora and large rocks as markers for the alignment of seasonal solstice and equinox events.
