Red Hill Truffles has kindly donated one of their wonderful truffle hunts on their beautiful property on the Mornington Peninsula to raise funds to assist the restoration of historic Fenton Hall in Merricks North.
Begin your truffle experience with the Mornington Peninsula’s first truffle producer and founder of Red Hill Truffles, Jenny McAuley. Jenny’s expert knowledge of truffles, fungi and the peninsula, coupled with her engaging storytelling, ensures an exhilarating summer truffle hunt.
The hunt includes a talk about truffle growing and truffles; a live hunt in the truffiere with the dogs; a slice of wood-fired truffle pizza and a tasting of our truffle products at the end of the hunt.
This fundraiser is particularly special because in 1939, Jenny's ancestors, together with other local families, were major contributors to the construction of Fenton Hall, so local children could attend school. The hall also hosted numerous community events until 2017, when it was closed due to its deteriorating condition. Since then it has received a permanent heritage overlay.
