The cool, maritime climate of the Mornington Peninsula creates the ideal growing environment for the early ripening varieties Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Pinot Gris, as well as a unique cool climate take on the classic Australian variety, Shiraz.
Our Discovery Tasting offers beginners and seasoned wine lovers alike, a unique insight into the roles played by variety, site, and winemaking in producing these world class, award-winning, cool-climate wines.
Set in our breathtaking wine room, with panoramic views overlooking our Red Hill vineyards, our Cellar Door team will guide you through a seated tasting of wines from our current releases, and back vintages, as well as limited bottlings not available away from our estate.
Following your tasting, take a seat in The Piazza, where you’ll enjoy a casual, shared lunch from the seasonal menu (which showcases the best of our estate-grown produce) along with a bottle of Montalto wine.
You’ll also receive a bottle of Montalto wine to take home with you too!
After lunch, we invite you to explore the Montalto Sculpture Trail. Sculpture is an integral part of life at Montalto and a highlight of any visit to the estate. Our 1km Sculpture Trail winds through our vines, along wooden boardwalks and through the wetlands and affords spectacular views of both the sculptures and the property along the way. Many of our permanent sculptures were winners of the Montalto Sculpture Prize -
among the most valuable private sculpture prizes in Australia.
